Divorce

Ending a marriage without a courtroom fight

Most divorces end by agreement. We prepare the papers, check both spouses' financial disclosures and write a settlement a judge can sign, for one fixed fee.

If you and your spouse disagree about something, we say which part and what it adds to the fee before we start on it. We never stretch a simple case to bill for it.

Inside the fixed fee

  • The petition or response, and every required form

  • Both financial disclosures, checked line by line

  • A written settlement on property, debts, support and the children

  • Judgment papers prepared and filed

  • Two video meetings, with email and phone between them

The fee

What can move the fee

Three things change the price of a divorce. We name them at the start, never after.

  • 01

    A hearing is needed

If the court sets a hearing on a disputed point, we quote that hearing as its own fixed step.

  • 02

    A spouse can't be found

Serving papers on a spouse who has moved takes extra steps. We quote them before we begin.

  • 03

    Retirement accounts

Dividing a pension or a 401(k) needs a separate court order. We prepare it for a stated fee.

If you are still weighing it

Do we both need a lawyer?

No. In an agreed divorce, one spouse can hire us while the other reviews the papers alone or with a lawyer of their own. We represent only the spouse who hired us, and we tell the other spouse so in writing.

How long does it take?

Courts set their own waiting periods and calendars. On the first call we tell you the dates that apply to your case, and we send the papers as soon as both of you have signed.

Can the whole divorce happen by video?

Our meetings do. Signing, filing and most court steps can be done without a trip to our office, and we tell you when the court needs you in person.

What if my spouse won't sign?

Then the case is no longer agreed, and the fee changes. We explain your options, mediation included, before you decide how to go on.
