Questions
Plain answers, in advance
How can everything be done by video?
Consultations, drafting reviews and signings happen online. A court that needs you in person is the exception, and we tell you early.
Do you meet in Spanish?
Yes. Marisabel Zaragoza and Anselma Wennerstrom meet clients in Spanish. Cosmo Okerlund meets clients in English. Tell us your language when you book.
What does the first consultation cost?
A 30-minute video consultation has a set fee, quoted when you book, and it is credited toward your fixed fee if you hire us.
What if I can't pay the fee all at once?
We split it into two or three payments tied to steps in the case, and we put the schedule in the fee agreement.
I don't feel safe at home. What should I do?
Call 911 if you are in danger. Emergency protection is not something we handle, but we can point you to a lawyer who does.
My spouse lives in another state. Can you still help?
Our lawyers are admitted in California. If your case belongs in a California court, we can help wherever your spouse lives. If it belongs elsewhere, we say so on the first call.
Will I have to go to court?
Agreed matters usually need no appearance, or a short one. If a hearing is set, we prepare you and tell you whether the court allows it by video.
Can you represent both of us?
No. We represent one spouse. The other spouse may use the papers we prepare and is free to hire their own lawyer.
A question we left out?
Ask it on a video call, or write to us and we will answer by email or phone.
